Counting Our Blessings

Well, it's been a while. I know some of you might think we disappeared off the face of the earth, but in fact I just stopped blogging so much about Noah and his Hirschsprung's Disease because since his surgery, things have been, well... normal. Noah is 2-1/2 years old, and he hasn't needed any kind of assistance from us since March 2009. It has been two years since we've had to do any irrigations. We have been so completely blessed with the outcome of his surgery. I read a lot of stories about kids with HD who need irrigations, laxatives, dilations, or who have horrible cases of diaper rash. We have just been blessed beyond all measure, beyond what we deserve. And we are so thankful for it.

Another giant, wonderful, huge blessing in these past two years has been the birth of Noah's baby brother, Lucas. We were so excited, and I'll admit, a little dubious, when he was born without Hirschsprung's. I spent several weeks after his birth being very nervous that it would somehow develop and show up later. But he's nine months old now and still healthy. There are no words to express how happy we are to be a healthy family of four!

We are counting our blessings... and thanking God for each and every one.
